Golf stakeholders assert that Olusegun Runsewe, president of the Nigeria Golf Federation, is redefining golf’s identity in Africa through strategic investments and innovation.

Several golf enthusiasts voiced their thoughts on Friday, highlighting how Mr. Runsewe’s initiatives have drawn investments and positioned Nigeria as a regional hub with the Golf and Health Signature, the only indoor digital golf facility in West Africa.

They referred to the Abuja-based facility as transformative, integrating technology, health, training, and youth development all in one place.

Mpoh Kelosiwaag, a leading golf instructor from South Africa, praised Mr. Runsewe as “a rare blessing” following his visit to the high-tech facilities at the Golf and Health Signature.

Mr. Kelosiwaag, a member of the Botswana Professional Golf Association, stated that the center represents Nigeria’s most notable golf advancement since the 1970s, when training for local professionals abroad began.

He emphasized that the facility offers electronic golf training to Nigerian professionals, propelling them towards international competitiveness.

He encouraged Nigeria to broaden its sports investment beyond football, labeling golf as a significant sport with high potential for medals.

Members of the African Golf Network echoed Mr. Kelosiwaag’s sentiments regarding Nigeria’s ascending status.

Philip Bobar remarked that the Abuja facility has reestablished Nigeria as a prime destination for golf training in Africa.

“This center alters perceptions. Africa now looks to Nigeria for elite golf preparation and innovation,” Mr. Bobar stated.

Tijanni Aliyu noted that Runsewe’s vision was not only ambitious but sustainable.

“He didn’t just create a facility; he developed a system that benefits youth, professionals, and fosters international collaborations,” Mr. Aliyu commented.

Ashante Biate characterized the project as transformative for African golf growth, asserting that “this is not imitation; Nigeria is setting the standard for others to follow.”

Oyinade Nathan-Marsh, the NGF’s Director of Marketing and Sponsorship, mentioned that the federation is utilizing the facility to attract corporate partnerships.

“We are currently in advanced discussions with over 10 prominent companies to enhance golf development across the nation,” Ms. Nathan-Marsh reported.

She further noted that the facility has instilled confidence in investors seeking structured platforms for sports development.

Mr. Runsewe declared the Golf and Health Signature as “the pride of Africa located in Abuja.”

“This facility was conceived from necessity, vision, and a firm belief that Nigeria can spearhead golf development in Africa,” he stated.
