In a stunning development following their triumphant performance at the 2024 Paris Olympics, where Simone Biles secured her eighth Olympic medal and the U.S. women’s gymnastics team clinched gold in the team final, Fox News has reported somber news about the athletes. The team’s historic achievement, which marked Biles as the most decorated gymnast in U.S. history, was overshadowed by this unexpected and tragic update. Details about the nature of the sad news have yet to be fully disclosed, but it has sent waves of concern and sympathy across the sports community and beyond.
It’s been quite the year for Simone Biles so far and 2025 is only three months old.
Earlier this year she traveled with husband Jonathan Owens to South Africa for their honeymoon where they spent nearly two weeks on safari. Just a few weeks later, Biles joined Tom Brady’s Religion of Sports, a production company, as one of the board of directors.
“Whether I like it or not, I’ve been around the entertainment space for basically my whole professional career. If you asked me when I was younger, I wanted to be a nurse. I wanted to help people. I wanted to be out in the community,” she said at the time
I feel like this is such a unique way to still be in the community, to give back, to tell people stories in a positive manner, in a beautiful way. I’m always around it, always in it, so why not give other people the platform?”
But that’s not all. Earlier this week she received another honor as she was nominated for Sportswoman of the Year in the 2025 Laureus World Sports Awards.
