Simone Biles clarified in an interview that she didn’t intend to take a jab at the U.S. Presidential candidate Donald Trump when she said she loved her ‘black job’ during the 2024 Paris Olympics. The American gymnast won four medals at the Games, three gold and one silver.

Biles led the USA women’s gymnastics team on their ‘redemption tour’ at the Olympics, reclaiming the title of the best team in the world after winning the gold medal. She then showcased her brilliance in the individual events, winning her second gold medal in the all-around competition.

Following the all-around triumph, Biles posted on X (formerly Twitter):

“I love my black job.”

Biles’ post went viral for apparently taking a jibe at the former United States President Donald Trump, who had recently said that immigrants were “taking Black jobs.” However, the eleven-time Olympic medalist has now clarified that she didn’t have any such intentions.

Speaking with the Los Angeles Times in an interview, the 27-year-old said she thought it was funny and people would enjoy it. Biles was quoted as saying:

“Well, I didn’t think it was going to explode the way that it did. I thought it was a joke and I thought it was funny, and I knew people would enjoy it. But obviously with the election coming up, that was not my intention. I was just having fun at the Olympics and everybody turns it into whatever they want to.”
The seven-time Olympic champion hasn’t endorsed any candidate in the ongoing U.S. Presidential elections but said her fans knew her choice.

“Right now, I’ll keep that private. I mean, I’m sure my followers know what my beliefs are, and so we’ll keep it at that,” she said.

Commenting on whether she has embraced the ‘GOAT’ title, Biles told the Los Angeles Times:

“I think it’s just funny to play around with it because the people that say it, love it. And the people that don’t think I’m the GOAT hate it even more. So it’s just funny for me.”
The seven-time Olympic champion added that she didn’t care if people considered her the GOAT or not.

“I don’t care if you don’t think I’m the greatest of all time. I feel like I’ve been pretty humble my whole entire career, so I still think there are amazing gymnasts who have paved the way for us to be able to do what we do…. And I think we’ve paved the way for the younger generations,” Simone Biles added.
Biles has ruled out retiring from the sport anytime soon and is likely to compete at the 2025 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships.
