It was a day to forget for Mike Weir and the International Team as the USA dominated the opening matches at the Presidents Cup.
The 12-man International Team failed to lay a glove on the Americans as the visitors ended the day 5-0 up.

Despite plenty of optimism before the start of play, the Canadian crowds were quickly silenced, and Tom Kim took aim at the support after losing his football match to Scottie Scheffler and Russell Henley.
Now, Golf Channel pundit Ryan Lavner has delivered a damning verdict on the home support at Royal Montreal Golf Club.

Lavner, speaking on the post-round Golf Channel coverage, didn’t hold back in his assessment of what unfolded at Royal Montreal Golf Club on Thursday.
“This is exactly why you should not have two months to think about anything, as you can twist yourself into knots; you can basically convince yourself of anything. My takeaway from the first day at Royal Montreal is that this was an unmitigated disaster,” Lavner said.
“This was a benign day. I think the opening ceremony was really lame and weird. It was benign and drawn out. The first tee build-up I thought was really weak; you had a muted Canadian crowd, which really didn’t stick around for Taylor Pendrith, who was in the fourth group; Corey Connors was in the fifth group, and by the time those teed off, the stands were half full by that point.”
The American added, “I think the crowds overall weren’t really into it when, for the majority of the day, it was pretty narrow margins. The crowd could have played a significant factor in it, but instead, it was benign, docile, and very quiet.”

The formidable Patrick Cantlay and Xander Schauffele are back together in the lead match, a combination which almost guarantees a point.
Scheffler and Henley will also remain and anchor the US team against Si Woo Kim and Byeong Hun An. Realistically, Weir will be targeting the middle three matches as the hosts look to carve into what is already a significant lead.
