KALAMAZOO, Mich. — The Western Michigan gymnastics team achieved its highest team score of the season, a 195.500, winning their quad meet against Bowling Green, UW-Eau Claire, and Greenville on Sunday at University Arena.
A Bronco led in all four events, with the team achieving season highs in three of them.
Freshman Isabella Ciolfi and sophomore Kennedy Cooper shared the vault title, each scoring 9.800, contributing to a team season-best of 48.900. Close behind were Hannah Milton and Makenna King, who scored 9.775.
On the bars, five WMU gymnasts performed exceptionally well, with Reese Samuelson winning the event with a score of 9.800. Julie Korfhage, Aliyah Kelly, and King claimed a tie for second at 9.775. Sophomore Reilan Garvey scored 9.750, helping the team achieve a score of 48.875.
Samuelson also excelled on the beam, finishing first and matching her career-best score of 9.875. Korfhage and Garvey tied for third place, while Casey Mooney secured fourth with a score of 9.775, contributing to the team’s top bars score of 49.000 this season.
Korfhage won the floor event with a score of 9.825, the highest for a Bronco this season. Milton finished tied for second at 9.800, while Brooke Gelesko tied for third with 9.775.
Western Michigan will compete again next Friday at Northern Illinois at 7 p.m. ET.
