Ireland’s Seamus Power made an eagle on his final hole to finish the second round with a score of 66, keeping him competitive at the Farmers Insurance Open on Friday.

Power began the tournament with a seven-under-par 65 on the South Course at Torrey Pines and maintained his strong performance to reach 13-under on day two.

While playing on the North Course, he secured five birdies and the impressive eagle on his last hole, which compensated for a bogey on the 17th.

He ended the day four strokes behind Englishman Justin Rose, who leads the clubhouse with a score of 17-under-par.

Rose had an outstanding first round with a 10-under 62 on the North Course and maintained his momentum with six birdies and an eagle for a second-round score of 65.

After sinking a 15-foot birdie putt on the third hole, Rose made an eight-foot eagle on the sixth and followed up with back-to-back birdies on the eighth and ninth holes.

Although he dropped a shot on the 12th hole, he bounced back with birdies on the 13th, 17th, and the final hole to create a four-stroke lead over Power.

“I was thinking about how I would maintain my lead on the last few holes, but it doesn’t change how you play the course,” Rose shared with the Golf Channel. “You have to be respectful.

“My role is the same as anyone else’s—it all comes down to who performs well.”

Power’s 66 brought his score to 13 under, with Americans Joel Dahmen and Max McGreevy tied for third at 11 under.

Brooks Koepka continued his return to the PGA Tour, making the cut at three under after improving his first-round score by five shots with a 68.
