LIV Golf is teeing off once more this week, ending a nearly five-month break as it launches its new season with six fresh faces stepping onto the course in Saudi Arabia.
The action kicks off at Riyadh Golf Club, where big names like Jon Rahm, Bryson DeChambeau, and Brooks Koepka are eager to make their return.
They’ll be accompanied by a host of newcomers, as the tour has expanded its player roster in recent months.
This expansion saw the relegation of five players, resulting in Kalle Samooja, Kieran Vincent, and Scott Vincent losing their spots, while also opening doors for other emerging stars to leave their mark on LIV Golf.
Ahead of the new season’s commencement, reigning champion Rahm has completed his team by bringing on board Tom McKibbin.
The Northern Irish golf sensation, who turned down an opportunity to play his first full PGA Tour season just last month, has decided instead to embark on an adventure with LIV.
Rahm praised his new team member, pointing out: “Tom is used to traveling the world, which I think is a big key. One of the reasons why maybe Caleb had not a good year last year compared to his standards was the fact that he had to travel so much, and he wasn’t used to it.”
Legion XIII are also ramping up their squad, with high hopes pinned on the young and talented Tom, who’s no stranger to the rigours of travel on the DP World Tour.
The team’s confidence is soaring, as they believe they could outshine their previous year’s performance. A team spokesperson said: “Tom is definitely used to it. The DP World Tour, they definitely are able to travel a lot.
So, having a young incredible talent with a bright future that’s used to the travel is something very, very special. On paper, we could be even stronger this year than we were last year. And I think coming into the Team Championship, we’re definitely going to be stronger than we
were last year.
