Well, that didn’t take long! After being ousted from his LIV Golf CEO position and replaced by Scott O’Neil earlier this month, Greg Norman has already found a new gig in the sports world and it’ll be pretty close to home.
According to reports by News Corp., The Shark is set to join the organizing board for the 2032 Olympics in Brisbane, taking the spot of a retiring politician on the 24-person committee. Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese made the selection, and Norman is looking forward to bringing some of the best golfers in the world to where he learned the game.
The Summer Games will be held in his home state of Queensland, Australia, and it just so happens that Norman grew up working in the shop of the Royal Queensland Golf Club, the Carnegie Clark-designed course that is scheduled to host the Olympic Golf competition.

“While I wish I could wind the clock back four decades and compete in 2032, it is a privilege to help shape the Brisbane Games,” Norman told Brisbane’s Courier-Mail newspaper. “We will prove our credentials as world leaders in events, sport and hospitality, and create an incredible legacy for this state.”
Sports Minister Anika Wells said Norman “is synonymous with Australian sporting success on the world stage” and that she looks forward “to drawing on his 40 years of global sporting experience and business acumen.” Norman’s first official meeting with the committee is slated for April 5, and he’ll be planning to spend more time in Australia over the upcoming years to fully sink his teeth into the position.
The Games of the XXXV Olympiad are set to run from July 23 to Aug. 8 in 2032 and will be the third Olympics held in Australia. This will be the first with Brisbane as the main host city.
“I am absolutely delighted,” said organizing committee president Andrew Liveris. “What better Australian sports brand is there than Greg Norman? What better Queensland sports brand than Greg Norman? He will help put our state and our city on the global map over the next seven years.”
