After winning a second U.S. Open, Bryson DeChambeau will certainly look back fondly on 2024. But most golf fans might better remember something a lot more unofficial that he did in the fall.

Of course, we’re talking about Bryson’s Hole-In-One Challenge involving him hitting shots over his house. The brilliant idea went viral, and couldn’t have played out any better as DeChambeau delivered an “ace” on Thanksgiving Eve, his 16th day of posting his escalating attempts. In case you somehow missed it, here was how it ended:

What a journey, indeed. And as we found out when the LIV star joined us on this week’s episode of The Loop podcast, it’s an idea that DeChambeau had been cooking up for a long time. And there’s a good reason why he had to wait.

“So I’ve been building a house for five years now, and it’s been in my mind for almost five years,” DeChambeau told Golf Digest. “The house is close to being finished. Obviously, you can see it. We’re just fine tuning. We’re going to be doing a great Youtube video on it here next year, when it’s in a great place and a great spot to be showcased. But this was an idea that spurred probably a year and a half ago, like fully, and about a year ago, when I had my golf green getting built in the backyard, and I looked up from the golf green. And I’m like, I should hit over the house to back here. . . .”

“And then I had a mat out there that I was chipping just kind of trying to imagine what it’d be like,” DeChambeau continued. “And then I looked over and was like, what if I just hit this over my house and I just hit it over my house when the green wasn’t finished and it landed back there, and I was like, ‘Oh, my gosh!’ This thing could be an amazing viral content piece. And then we just storylined it out, and we figured out how to storyline it.”

A-B-C. Alway be contenting. That’s why he’s the Content King of golf. But even he was blown away by the reaction.
