DARTS stars Jarno Bottenberg and Ryan Hogarth were involved in a heated exchange of words – which threatened to turn ugly.

The two came up against each other in the Last 32 at the 2024 WDF Lakeside World Championship.

Dutchman Bottenberg beat the Scot 3-1 in sets but they clashed as the game came to a close.

There was a lengthy exchange of words before Hogarth appeared to raise his voice at Bottenberg.

Hogarth then put his hands on Bottenberg’s back and appeared to give him a push – leaving fans online fuming.

One said: “No need to be pushing or even touching your opponent other than to shake hands.”

Another added: “Ryan Hogarth and Jarno Bottenberg about to have a scrap backstage.”

One commented: “Clear push. Action needs to be taken against Hogarth.”

Another said: “No need to put his hands on someone bad loser.”

Hogarth survived set darts in the opener to go 1-0 up with finishes of 114 and 111.

But Bottenberg levelled up to win the second set 3-0 with a brace of 16 darters.

Bottenberg hit further 16-darters and double 14 to take the third set 3-1 and wrap up the win.
