The Buffalo Bills and Josh Allen is a match made in heaven.
In the eyes of Bills fans, Allen is Superman. He’s the caped savior for a franchise that had been yearning for such a figure for over two decades. But if the 28-year-old is Superman, his kryptonite in the postseason has been Patrick Mahomes, who has defeated and eliminated the Bills in 2021, 2022, and 2024 – including on the road as the AFC West franchise went on to clinch a second straight Super Bowl title.
But on Sunday in Week 11, Allen’s Bills exacted a form of payback. He led Buffalo to a 30-21 victory at Highmark Stadium, scoring a sublime rushing touchdown late to inflict the first loss of the season on the Chiefs, who entered the game with a perfect 9-0 record and harbored dreams on a perfect campaign.

Allen threw for 262 yards and a touchdown in the win, but it was his legs that supplied what could prove to be a season-defining play. Facing fourth-and-two on the Chiefs’ 26-yard line while leading 23-21, Allen pump-faked before darting up the middle, breaking tackles and shaking off defenders as he rumbled into the end zone. The touchdown iced the game, and Allen celebrated by flexing to his adoring fans while letting out a passionate roar.
Bills Mafia waited for Allen, living through Ryan Fitzpatrick, EJ Manuel, Kyle Orton, and others before the quarterback arrived. But each and every agonizing interception, wayward throw, and defeat was worth it to land their talismanic superhero with the No. 7 pick in the 2018 NFL Draft.
“We waited so long after Jim Kelly to get a franchise quarterback, and he was worth the wait,” Bills Mafia co-founder Del Reid exclusively told The Mirror U.S. Sports. “It’s easy to say that now, but it’s true. When you see him do the crazy stuff, it’s just mesmerizing.
“He runs in one direction, then throws in the other 30 yards downfield, or just takes it himself on wild scrambles. He can truck or just straight up jump over guys. This is not a human being – he is a cheat code. And we’re lucky to have him.

“No matter what happens going forward, we’re just so lucky to have this team performing at this level for the length of time it has been so far, and hopefully for many more years to come. They’ve made football fun again, and Josh is a big part of that.”
On Sundays, Allen is an all-conquering gladiator who can conjure up magic at any stage. But even away from the field, his Colisseum, the 28-year-old is a beloved figure in Buffalo. Reid truly believes the Wyoming product was made for Western New York, adored by wings-eating, beer-guzzling, and table-smashing sports fanatics.
“He’s such a great fit for Buffalo because he’s humble but he’s always doing great things – and I feel like that’s kind of like what Buffalo is; it’s a great place to live, great place to raise a family, I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else. But at the same time, we don’t go bragging about how awesome Buffalo is to everybody. I think Josh is a reflection of that and he truly understands our city, which is funny because he’s a California kid so he’s about as far from Buffalo as you can be. It’s just such a perfect pairing.

“He understands his role here in the city, that he’s so much more than just the guy that throws the football on Sundays. He’s our face to the rest of the world. He gets it. I’m so happy to have him as our quarterback; so often in professional sports, you’re supporting elite players on the team you love, but they’re not always great humans, so there’s a negotiation in your mind. But he’s really good.
“Josh Allen, we love him head to toe, 365 days a year. He’s fun to root for as a player, and he’s fun to root for as a human.”
Allen’s 9-2 Bills are on a bye week before facing the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday Night Football on Dec. 1.
