Brazil’s Rebeca Andrade finished runner-up to USA gymnast Simone Biles in both the all-around final and vault at the 2024 Paris Olympics, prompting the most-decorated gymnast of all-time to pay Andrade the highest compliment.
Biles admitted she didn’t want to compete against Andrade anymore because she gave her a run for her money — twice — and upstaged her during the floor exercise where she claimed gold while Biles took silver.
Andrade recently opened up during a recent interview with CNN Esportes about Biles’ comments and how going head-to-head with her top rival forced her to elevate her game in Paris.
“Simone, we know she is from another world,” Andrade said. “She is extremely talented and being able to compete alongside her is something which means a lot not only to me but represents a lot to many people.
