Victor Osimhen wants to join Paris Saint-Germain this summer instead of making a move to either Arsenal or Chelsea, according to a new report.
Arsenal and Chelsea have both been linked with a move to try to sign Osimhen before the end of the summer transfer window. The Napoli star signed a new contract last summer with a €130 million (£110m/$145m) release clause but no club has thus far shown a willingness to trigger it. PSG were interested in Osimhen last summer and the striker would like to make that move, provided a new offer is tabled, per La Gazzetta dello Sport.
Osimhen would like to join PSG because they have hired Luis Campos, a man he considers to be his “football father”. Campos pushed Lille to sign Osimhen in 2019 and may well be driving PSG’s pursuit.
Arsenal are said to be hovering in the background, as they continue to monitor Osimhen’s situation, while Chelsea have only proposed a loan, something Napoli are not willing to countenance. While PSG could table a bid this week, it is expected to fall below Napoli’s minimum demand of €100m (£85m/$112m) and there remains a possibility that Osimhen will simply have to remain in Italy.
Napoli are next in action on Sunday against Bologna in Serie A. They opened their season with a disappointing 3-0 defeat to Hellas Verona.
